A2 and A4 are considered corrosion-resistant materials in many general construction and installation applications. A swimming-pool hall, however, is an exceptional environment in which chloride load and tensile stresses can lead to stress corrosion cracking.

‘But it’s stainless steel, isn’t it?’ is not a material justification in a swimming pool.

Even highly alloyed stainless steel is not entirely risk-free.

Stainless steel can develop hidden cracking in a pool environment.

The right question is: which material belongs in this specific location?

A research result is usable only within its described method and conditions and is not an individual failure probability for every pool.

Common stainless steels such as A2/304 and A4/316 may be susceptible to stress corrosion cracking under tensile stress and chloride exposure.

1.4529 HCR is not a universal solution. Use only within a verified product-specific rule and project assessment.
