PoolFIX coated is the primary PoolFIX system for approximately 95% of suitable applications. This market position never replaces product-specific validation.

When no validated product/application rule matches, the result is Technical review required.

Which coating build-up suits your pool?

Assess which finish suits your pool.

Tilework can create recurring maintenance questions.

Bolts, nuts and screws form part of a larger assembly. Their suitability depends on material, coating, geometry, load, substrate, exposure and installation. Review the product specification and the actual application together.

Application

Prepare draft wording that records application, load, substrate, exposure, installation method, inspectability and available product documentation. Open issues remain visible until assessed by an authorised project party.

This draft records the entered assumptions and open issues. Following a specification does not automatically remove individual duties, a duty to warn or liability. Have material selection and execution assessed for the project.

Project dossier contains: specification.pdf · specification.docx · checklist.pdf · order-list.pdf (with QR codes to the webshop) · README.txt — ideal for architects and contractors.

Common stainless-steel grades and other metals may have limitations in certain pool conditions. Assess material, load, location, exposure and installation against the applicable requirements and verified product information.

Support for your specification

A2 and A4 are considered corrosion-resistant materials in many general construction and installation applications. A swimming-pool hall, however, is an exceptional environment in which chloride load and tensile stresses can lead to stress corrosion cracking.

‘But it’s stainless steel, isn’t it?’ is not a material justification in a swimming pool.

For everyone who must be able to justify material choices in a swimming pool.

Material safety in swimming-pool environments

Can you substantiate the material choice for each location?

Do not use 1.4529 as a universal replacement. Before selection, confirm that a current, approved product-specific rule covers the exact location and application.

PoolFIX guideline for 1.4529 HCR

Even highly alloyed stainless steel is not entirely risk-free.

Stainless steel can develop hidden cracking in a pool environment.

The right question is: which material belongs in this specific location?

A research result is usable only within its described method and conditions and is not an individual failure probability for every pool.

Common stainless steels such as A2/304 and A4/316 may be susceptible to stress corrosion cracking under tensile stress and chloride exposure.

1.4529 HCR is not a universal solution. Use only within a verified product-specific rule and project assessment.

Check the coating specification and application limits for the exact item and project.

Research questions reveal application limits.

From general fastening to demonstrable material selection.

General approach

PoolFIX approach

After an incident, can you demonstrate why this material was selected?

That is why material selection in a swimming-pool environment must be based on application, exposure and demonstrable suitability — not only on the term ‘stainless steel’.

The danger is not always visible from the outside.

Applicable requirements depend on the project country, authority and technical specification. No standard automatically approves a PoolFIX product.

Standards, codes and guidance

Not automatically applicable as UK or US law

NEN 9200 (Dutch technical reference — local applicability requires validation) is a Dutch standard and does not automatically approve a product or establish local law outside the Netherlands.

The responsible project team must establish applicable local requirements and product-specific application validation.

What the passport contains

A digital record for configured deliveries.

A consistent structure can connect material, application and delivery data.

Engineering information

If issued for the specific delivery, the certificate contains the order, item and document information stated in it.

An available QR reference can lead authorised users to the associated product record.

Digital traceability

Available documents can be retained for maintenance, handover and later checks.

Digital archive

Recorded deliveries, documents and inspections can form a clear history.

Project history

An available digital record can be shared with authorised parties.

Controlled access

Built for technical control and long-term management

In pool environments, the selected product matters, but so does the ability to substantiate the choice, delivery and follow-up later. A coherent record supports careful management, accelerates handover and helps demonstrate which materials and documents belong to a project.

Good engineering deserves demonstrable documentation.

A partially threaded bolt only has thread on its final section; most of the shank is smooth. This allows two materials to be clamped together correctly.
